Frequently Asked Questions About Aloro's DIY Rubber Flooring Kit
Our wet pour rubber kits are durable and long-lasting making them an ideal solution for high-traffic areas such as rubber playground surfaces. This resilience ensures your floor remains attractive and performs well for many years. They are also versatile and suitable for a host of different applications from gyms, patios, walkways and more. One of the most popular uses is creating DIY poured rubber playground surfaces, delivering a colourful, safe and cushioned surface for children to enjoy. Comfort and safety are key benefits, as wet pour rubber provides a shock-absorbing surface that reduces impact and risk of injury. In playground applications, children can explore and test their limits in a safe environment, and when used as gym flooring, rubber offers a gentler impact on joints and bones. Aloro’s DIY rubber kit is easy to install too, with no professional support required – full instructions are provided so that you can achieve a smooth and hassle-free application. And naturally, we aim to offer the most eco-friendly choices in our range. Our SBR rubber kit, for example, is made from recycled materials, helping you contribute to a sustainable environment.
One kit covers one square metre when applied at the recommended thickness of 15mm.
Your wet pour rubber kit contains two unique ingredients for your DIY project: a 10kg tub of CSBR rubber granules, and 2kg of our premium polyurethane binder. These ingredients are then combined in a wet process and left to harden and set.
First, prepare the surface. Clean and dry the area where the rubber flooring will be applied and ensure there is no loose material. If not being applied to a hard surface, ideally allow for 50mm-70mm of compacted road base to ensure the area does not sink over time. Mix the components by thoroughly combining the rubber granules and polyurethane binder. Use protective gloves and avoid contact with skin or eyes. Spread the mixture evenly by pouring it onto the prepared surface and spreading it evenly to achieve a thickness of 15mm. Finally, let it set. We recommend allowing the flooring to cure and set for 24 to 48 hours for optimal results.
