Search "best TPV rubber" and you'll find a handful of suppliers whose data sheets all say roughly the same thing: fully crosslinked, peroxide-cured, angular granule, non-porous. On the surface, TPV looks like a commodity. It isn't. Once you get past density and hardness — which are genuinely similar across most reputable suppliers — the products diverge fast on the numbers that determine how a surface actually performs over five, ten, fifteen years outdoors.
This is a plain-language breakdown of what to check, why each figure matters in practice, and how Bounce™ TPV measures up.
Start With the Mechanical Numbers, Not the Marketing
Specific gravity (~1.55 g/cm³) and Shore A hardness (~65 ±5) are where most TPV granules on the market converge. They tell you about underfoot feel and fall-height performance, but almost nothing about durability. Two figures do that job instead:

Tensile strength is the granule's resistance to tearing under repeated compression — every footstep, every piece of equipment, every thermal expansion and contraction cycle. A higher number means less surface degradation over the same number of years in the ground.
Elongation at break is how far the granule can stretch before it fails. This matters most in the moment it's designed for: absorbing a fall. A granule that can flex further before tearing gives the surface more margin under impact loading, rather than cracking at its limit.
Check the Fire Test Standard, Not Just the Claim
Almost every supplier states their granule is fire-safe. Far fewer name the test standard behind that claim. Bounce™ TPV's flame-retardant rating is certified to TS EN 13501-1 + A1:2013, with a documented test number on file. If a data sheet only says "non-flammable" without citing a method, ask which standard it was tested against — it's a fair question and a legitimate one to expect an answer to.

A high-tensile, high-elongation granule can still underperform if it's bonded with a generic, mismatched binder — poor adhesion shows up as granule loss, surface crumbling at the edges, and premature wear long before the granule itself would have failed.
